José-Cristian Martínez is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago.  His research includes social insect interactions, woodland restoration and invasive species.  Cristian will discuss his research in ecological restoration and how it influences the insect community as well as his recent collection trip to Costa Rica and his science outreach initiative.
